ST. PAUL LOCAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

A team of volunteers listens and provides emergency assistance to people who come to the door asking for help. Members' offerings are disbursed for emergency travel, housing, medical/prescription and other needs. The mission statement of our Local Assistance Ministry describes their work: "Supporting St. Paul's core commitment to diversity and inclusiveness, the local assistance ministry works to serve the material and spiritual needs of the most vulnerable members of our community: the poor, homeless, elderly and differently-abled. Our focus is on meeting basic needs, hospitality, advocacy, providing hope and building relationships."

GRANT AVENUE STREET REACH

Volunteers serve a free hot meal every Monday (even holidays) for people in our neighborhood. Organized 15 years ago, the group began serving meals at St. Paul in June 2003. They serve 500-900 people each week, from 1-6 pm. You can volunteer by just showing up! Work begins at 11:00 am and cleanup is done by about 7 or 7:30pm. We can use help any of those hours.

ST. PAUL MUSIC FOR CHILDREN

This ministry is an outreach to the children in our community through Cristo Rey Lutheran Church, 501 Stuart. Our Cantor teaches vocal and instrumental music classes in their after–school program. And we are working with the congregation to provide a summer Music and Art Camp, Monday-Friday, August 8-12.
